The Southern Regional Council on Statistics (SRCOS) honored Dr. Harshbarger for his substantial influence in building academic strength and leadership in statistics in the South by initiating the Boyd Harshbarger travel awards. These awards given to graduate students who are presenting posters while attending the Summer Research Conference (SRC) and were first awarded in 1994 at the SRC in Williamsburg, VA.
